Movies on TV
A few good movies to watch for on cable:
2. Norma Rae – Playing this week on Cinemax. Featuring Sally Field. The film is based on the true story of Crystal Lee Jordan, who had been blacklisted by every textile union in the South for her fight against the conditions at those mills. However, with the success of NORMA RAE, Jordan began a new career as a spokeswoman for a textile workers union. See the schedule.
3. The Barbarian Invasions – Winner of Best Foreign Language Film in the 2004 Academy Awards®. This highly accesible character study from Canada won its lead actress Marie-Josée Croze a Best Actress award and its Screenplay writer Denys Arcand (also the film’s director) a Best Screenplay award at Cannes in 2003. Playing on IFC Channel Wednesday, October 25 at 11:00 AM and at 6:20 PM.
4. Noi – A beautiful movie from Iceland. Playing on the Sundance Channel Wednesday, October 25 at 1:45 PM.

Frontline World: Inside Hamas
I’m a huge fan of Frontline, the only investigative journalism TV program I make sure to have a Tivo season pass for. This week Frontline World (a version of the program that focuses on several unrelated topics from around the world in shorter segments) focuses on Hamas.
Be sure to tune in as these programs are always well-researched and very informative. Similarly, documentaries made on the topic of the Palestinians and their conflict with Israel can be found here: The Inner Tour, Promises, Wall4 comments
