The Dish ($11.98)

In July 1969, the eyes of the world were on the Apollo 11 moon landing–but the world would have watched blank television screens if not for the hard work of a group of Australians manning the Parkes Radio Telescope, one of the largest dishes in the world.

© Lion’s gate films
While away from the US I was exposed to some new movie resources. One that I greatly enjoyed was BBC World’s “Talking Movies” (bbcworld.com/talkingmovies).
This week they featured a great interview with stunning Charlotte Rampling. It was available online for a while but I can’t find it now.

7 commentsWriting from the Jerusalem Film Festival
The Jerusalem Film Festival opens next week and features a diverse lineup of movies from Israel and from around the world.
The DVD ideas Blog is traveling to Israel this month and I plan to write about the films I’m fortunate enough to catch in person and to post digital photos from the event first hand. Some of the films are coming soon to DVD or are already available. I’ll mention those and write about the significance of their inclusion in the festival.
If anyone wishes to point me to any of the films from the above list - send me email or comment on the blog. Thanks!
